Many of us have an old or even antique sewing machine at home that is dusty and neglected. Maybe it’s just taking up space and no one in your family wants to learn to sew. There are several groups on the internet dedicated to the preservation and restoration of old and antique machinery. You could donate the “main unit” (the sewing machine itself) to these groups to salvage parts to keep other machines running. Many of these groups have machines that are over 100 years old and still in use! They can be restored and are a lovely thing to teach your kids!
